Sid Harvey’s announces a New Service Program:
R-22 Banking and Buy-Back

For nearly two decades, Sid Harvey has been a pioneer in refrigerant recovery.  Once again,
Sid Harvey’s has made a significant innovation to our Refrigerant Recovery Program.  By teaming up with our partner, DuPont, Sid Harvey’s is now offering our customers an opportunity to participate in the new
R-22 Banking and Buy-Back Program.  This service program is designed to help you deal with the shortages and price increases that will undoubtedly accompany the government-mandated R-22 phase out.

Over the past 17 years, Sid Harvey’s has demonstrated aggressive innovation in refrigerant recovery services and today is recognized as an industry leader in refrigerant reclamation.  In 1992, we introduced the Recover-it Program and since then thousands of contractors and facility managers, putting their trust in Sid Harvey’s, have provided more than 8 million pounds of used refrigerant for recovery.  To enhance the program, Sid Harvey then introduced the industry’s first over-the-counter program for exchanging or swapping recovery tanks.

The new R-22 Banking and Buy-Back feature has been designed to be really simple.  Submit your signed R-22 Banking Dealer Agreement and your recovered R-22 earns you the right to purchase the same number of pounds of virgin R-22 at a substantial savings from the current market price.  You are free to redeem your bank of R-22 anytime you want, in any volume you want, at any of Sid Harvey’s 75 branches.

Keep in mind, the price of R-22 will significantly escalate as we approach
the 2015 deadline when virgin R-22 will no longer be available.

If you choose to sell your recovered R22, instead of banking it, use our R-22 Buy-Back option which allows you to instantly receive a credit to your Sid Harvey account for the pounds returned.
It’s that simple!

 How R-22 Banking Works

-      Your banked R-22 can be redeemed for virgin R-22 at a Lock-In Rate.

-      Your Lock-In Rate will be a set price per pound that is usually 20 to 40% lower than normal
R-22 trade price.

-      The Lock-In Rate as of 7/08/09 is $4.00/lb.

-      Redemption from your bank is automatic.  Just purchase virgin R-22 from any Sid Harvey branch
and you will be charged the normal trade price at the point of sale.  At the beginning of the quarter,
you will be rebated the difference between what we charged you at point of sale and your
Lock-In Rate.  Your rebate can be in the form of a check or credit to your Sid Harvey account.

-      Your Lock-In Rate is fixed until any changes are communicated to you.  You will be notified of
Lock-In Rate changes and given at least 30 day to redeem your bank, if you chose to, for packaged Freon
â 22 before your bank Lock-In Rate is changed.

-      You have the option of selling your banked pounds to Sid Harvey’s at any time for the Buy-Back Rate in effect when the refrigerant was banked.

-      The Buy-Back Rate as of 7/08/09 is $0.50/lb. (50¢).

Sid Harvey’s Handles ALL TYPES of Recovered Refrigerants

Your refrigerant recovery needs go beyond R-22.   Sid Harvey’s will accept all refrigerant under our Recover-It Program.  Recover-It offers two volume options for refrigerant recovery.  We accept quantities from as little as 20 lb. to as much as 5,000 lb. Contractors and facility managers can select either volume tier or talk to Sid Harvey’s about designing a custom program to meet your needs.

-      Level I: This is for small jobs where used refrigerant is collected in 30 or 50 lb. cylinders and can be returned in over 75 locations nationwide.  All of our branches are equipped with an inventory of clean, certified recovery tanks ready to swap for the tanks turned in by your technicians. Your investment in tanks remains low.

-      Level II: This is for the larger jobs where either 125 or 500 lb. cylinders are used.  Recovery cylinders are shipped directly to your shop or job site for small deposit fee that is returned to you.  Some contractors choose to use this feature to consolidate small quantities in their shop and return the refrigerant to us in bulk.

Regardless of the level, Sid Harvey’s Recover-It Program combined with our new R-22 Banking and Buy-Back Program provides you with a way to dispose of your used refrigerant that’s safe, legally compliant and environmentally sound.

R-22 Banking and Buy-Back Purity Requirements

-      Recovered R-22 must meet a minimum purity of 98% (bank) or 99% (buy-back) in order to
receive credit.

-      At the point-of-sale, Sid Harvey’s will assume that the recovered refrigerant returned meets these purity levels.  If after testing and analysis, your recovered refrigerant does not meet the purity level; your account will be billed for the cost to dispose the contaminated refrigerant.
